Perfect Fitness Multi-Gym Reviews
10 of 12 people found the following review helpful Lightweight and Too Flexible, April 8, 2011 By Not my real name guy (Midwest) - See all my reviews This review is from: Perfect Fitness Multi-Gym (Misc.) This bar intially seemed to be well made and produced by a professional company, with more than adequate pads on the bars and on the over-the-door molding bar. Unfortunately appearances are deceiving and it is actually poorly made, with significant limitations on its usefulness that should have been clearly stated on the outside of the packaging, but were not.
This bar has a stated weight limit for its users of 220 pounds, This should have been stated on the box, but instead it was inside of the assembly manual. Often stated limitations are conservative - a dozen eggs with a sell-by date of 3/1/11 are usually good well past April Fool's day. Not so with this pull up bar, not by a long shot. I'd guess its actual weight limit is more like 160 pounds. I installed it and standing flat and pulling down on it with slightly more than half my strength, it flexed over half an inch. It flexed on the cross bars and grips, it flexed at the joint between the two halves of the... Read more
6 of 7 people found the following review helpful Not worth the money, April 20, 2011 This review is from: Perfect Fitness Multi-Gym (Misc.) This pull up bar is pretty horrible. I thought I was getting a deal paying only $29.99, but it turns out this might just be one of those things you should shell out the big $$ for. First of all, there is a 220 lb weight limit, which is extremely low for exercise equipment. However, the weight limit isn't listed anywhere on the outside of the box, but in the instructions once you've already spent the money and opened the package. Neither my boyfriend nor myself are anywhere close to 220 lbs, but the pull up bar bowed when we tried to use it. This is on top of the bar being uneven when properly assembled. It also made creaking noises to the point of me being concerned for my safety. This is going back to the store immediately.
1 of 1 people found the following review helpful Great pull-up bar, February 17, 2011 This review is from: Perfect Fitness Multi-Gym (Misc.) I purchased the multi-gym to use exclusively for pull-ups. I haven't tried push-ups, sit-ups or dips (not sure how anyone could do a decent dip with this thing), but it functions very well as a pull-up bar. The selling point for me was the ability to do wide grip pull-ups.
The multi-gym feels very well made and so far the padding has done an excellent job of protecting the trim around my door frame. I will post an update if the product doesn't withstand the test of time.
